In the Civil War in Côte d'Ivoire, our organization played an instrumental role in facilitating dialogue between the warring factions. Leveraging our extensive network and diplomatic channels, we actively engaged with both the government of Côte d'Ivoire and the rebel forces to broker a ceasefire and pave the way for a peaceful resolution. Our efforts were focused on promoting national reconciliation, fostering political inclusivity, and ensuring the protection of human rights. Through our persistent diplomatic efforts and mediation, we contributed significantly to the eventual stabilization of the country and the restoration of peace.

Our organization has been deeply involved in the Sudanese Conflict in Darfur, working tirelessly to mediate between the Government of Sudan, Janjaweed militias, and various rebel groups. Recognizing the humanitarian crisis and the widespread human rights abuses, we advocated for the deployment of international peacekeeping forces and supported the African Union and United Nations initiatives to bring about a peaceful resolution. Our diplomatic interventions and mediation efforts were pivotal in facilitating dialogue, building trust, and fostering an environment conducive to a negotiated settlement. Through our sustained engagement, we contributed significantly to the reduction of violence and the improvement of the humanitarian situation in Darfur.

During the ethnic violence in Kenya, our organization played a crucial role in facilitating dialogue between the conflicting ethnic groups and political factions. We organized and participated in peace talks, facilitated reconciliation processes, and advocated for political reforms to address the underlying causes of the violence. Leveraging our expertise in conflict resolution and our network of mediators and peacebuilders, we actively engaged with all stakeholders to promote dialogue, build trust, and foster national unity. Our efforts were instrumental in de-escalating the violence, promoting peaceful coexistence, and contributing to the restoration of stability and democratic governance in Kenya.

In the context of the Somali Civil War and insurgency, our organization has been actively engaged in promoting peace, security, and stability in Somalia. We supported the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) in their efforts to combat al-Shabaab and other insurgent groups. Through our diplomatic efforts, capacity-building initiatives, and support for peacebuilding and reconciliation processes, we contributed significantly to strengthening the governance structures, enhancing security sector reform, and fostering social cohesion in Somalia. Our sustained engagement and commitment to peacebuilding have played a vital role in mitigating the conflict and supporting the Somali people's aspirations for peace, stability, and development.

In the aftermath of the Lebanon War in 2006, the UN CRC was actively engaged in supporting the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701, which called for a cessation of hostilities, the deployment of Lebanese Armed Forces in southern Lebanon, and the disarmament of Hezbollah. The Committee has supported the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in its efforts to monitor the ceasefire, prevent hostilities, and facilitate humanitarian assistance and reconstruction in the affected areas.

During the various flare-ups and military operations between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, the UN CRC has consistently called for the protection of civilians, the respect for international humanitarian law, and the immediate cessation of hostilities. The Committee has supported diplomatic initiatives to de-escalate tensions, broker ceasefires, and promote a durable solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. UN CRC members have also provided humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population affected by the conflict.

In the Syrian Civil War, the UN CRC has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the conflict, support political transition, and provide humanitarian assistance to millions of Syrians in need. The Committee has supported the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria in his efforts to mediate between the warring parties, promote dialogue, and facilitate the implementation of Security Council resolutions aimed at ending the conflict and addressing the humanitarian crisis. UN CRC members have also played a crucial role in supporting humanitarian operations, advocating for the protection of civilians, and addressing human rights violations and accountability.
